Things to know

Arrive 30 minutes early at the storefront. A 4-door vehicle is required to transport kayaks to the beach. Children under 13 require a private trip and must ride with an adult (one child per adult); all paddlers should be physically fit and able to swim with a life vest.

Popoi‘a Islet and the Mokulua Islets are part of Hawai‘i’s State Wildlife Sanctuary System and are managed by the Division of Forestry and Wildlife to protect native species and support ecosystem recovery. Visitors must follow all State Wildlife Sanctuary Rules, which include staying only in areas below the high-water mark and respecting all access restrictions. The sanctuaries prohibit fires, dogs, pets, camping, tents, tarps, or any type of structure at all times.
