The Historic Tour has 44 steps down to enter and 38 steps up to exit. The Natural Wonder Tour has a ramp entrance and 60 steps up to exit. There are handrails for all stairways.
Strollers are not recommended because the pathway is too narrow in many parts of the caverns. Chest baby carriers or back carriers work great.

Ohio Caverns
Visitors consistently rave about the knowledgeable and friendly tour guides here, with names like Jackson, Jessica, and Ben getting specific shoutouts for making the experience both informative and engaging. The caverns themselves are genuinely beautiful, with impressive formations that captivate everyone from school groups to families to couples on dates. Multiple reviewers mention opting for the extended tour and being glad they did, suggesting it's worth the extra time to see more of what's underground. The gift shop gets almost as much praise as the caves themselves, offering a great selection of stones, gems, and souvenirs that visitors find reasonably priced and fun to browse. It's an especially smart winter destination since the caverns maintain a comfortable 52 degrees year-round, making it pleasant to explore even when it's freezing outside. The staff shows flexibility too, often accommodating guests who arrive early or run a bit late. One reviewer notes the tour felt rushed with limited historical context, but this seems like an outlier given the overwhelming enthusiasm from others who found the pacing just right at about an hour.
My family has toured several caves in multiple states and this was a very nice experience. There are two tours and we opted to take the Natural Wonders option. We learned it is the largest cave system in Ohio. The cave was beautiful with a lot of crystal formations to view. We toured the cave with two other adults and a ten year old boy and everyone enjoyed the experience. The tour guide was very sweet and moved at a nice pace. Also, we encountered several other people who drove several hours to visit and really enjoyed it too.
