John Nolan clearly knows his stuff when it comes to Greenville's history and food scene. Travelers consistently praise his enthusiasm and deep knowledge, with even longtime residents discovering new facts about their city. The variety of tours is impressive, from walking tours around Falls Park to driving options that work well for those with mobility concerns. Big Chuck gets mentioned specifically as another excellent guide who brings stories to life with genuine passion. The food tours seem to be the real standout here. People rave about the generous portions, quality restaurants (especially Table 301 venues), and how John weaves historical context throughout the culinary experiences. The BBQ tour and Chef's Table tour get particularly enthusiastic responses. What makes these tours special is the pacing and thoughtful details like historical photos, artifacts, and presentations in the van between stops. Multiple reviewers mention taking several tours and planning to return, which speaks volumes. One person noted a communication issue about a no-show, though this appears to be an isolated incident among otherwise glowing feedback.
This is our second tour (Textile Mills driving tour) with "Greenville History Tours" it was phenomenal. We chose this specific tour, because we needed a driving tour (a member of our party has mobility issues) and we wanted to take the tour on a Friday. It did not disappoint. The van was comfortable, you could hear our guide very clearly, and it was packed with amazing information and items you could even touch and see. Great tour to show you around Greenville's vast history.
